Department of Sanskrit


Established  in  1919,  the  Department  of Sanskrit is one of the oldest Departments of the University.  Sanskrit is a classical language which offers a view of our ancient culture and its rich academic excellence. It enjoys great importance in our country even  today. The Department  has been engaged in academic pursuits  since  its  inception.  Recently,  it published a book titled 'Jain and Buddhist Traditions in Sanskrit'. The Department  plans to  start  new  courses  like  Vedic  studies, Jyotisha, Linguistics, etc. The Department is also running Spoken Sanskrit Course.
